One of the famous educational systems practised in India in the ancient times was The Gurukul System. You might wonder what exactly a Gurukul system is.  Kul/ ‘कुल’ means dynasty and Guru /‘गुरु' is master of a subject, A spiritual teacher, a gardian or a leader to the path of Glory. so Gurukul means a family or a dynasty made of gurus and disciples/ ‘शिष्य' Gurukul is the system developed by Indians to convey important messages ,learnings, and experience to the next generation through man to man intimate personal connection. This way actually Gurus presented themselves to the disciples not as a professional teacher but as Gardians . This way Gurus confirmed the security of the knowledge and powerful formulae ‘सुत्र/मंत्र’ to not to go to the wrong hands. For this first they used to examine and check the disciples very minutely to be a proper person to get the knowledge and to use it only for welfare of the world. |
